For a national campaign by de Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax and Customs Administration) I did the photography for brochure U & de Belastingdienst and various online publications. The campaign was to inform on the various services, for private and commercial parties, the Dutch Tax Administration provide.
The agency went for a more documentary approach, with emphasis on people and environment. Although all settings were completely staged (location, models), i really liked to work towards a documentary touch. All images incorporates governmental visual guidelines.
The spreads and two page interviews were complemented with a more personal portrait.
In the end of September 2011, Utrecht will become the capital of film with the 31th edition of the Nederlands Film Festival (Netherlands Film Festival). A showcase of the past, present and future of Dutch cinema for public and industry.
There is the Gouden Kalf Competitie (Golden Calf Competition), followed by the Award ceremony. A special focus on Guest of the Year, producer Frans van Gestel of IDTV Film. And, for what i am specifically looking out for, the Beeldenstorm program. Dedicated to new ways of (digital) storytelling, use of social media and crowd funding.
I’ll be at, and working for, the festival. So, check back soon for a view of dutch cinema from within.

November, IDFA time! The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, with its politically committed program, master classes and filmmakers present, a must for all doc-enthusiasts.
Check out the huge, huge program. With in the Reflecting Images – Masters program the latest documentaries of (my personal favorites) Frederick Wiseman (with Boxing Gym) and Michael Epstein (with LENNONYC).
Another interesting program is the DocLab, where they explore new forms of documentary film making and storytelling. With last years featured projects like The Ninth Floor by Jessica Dimmock and This American Life by Ira Glass cant wait to see what’s in this years projects.
I will be working at the festival’s daily paper, but for sure i will get me some time off.
